About the festival

The PDXtreme Film Fest is the best damn genre festival the Portland Oregon area has ever seen! Taking place over 3 days at the historic Kiggins Theatre, we showcase horror, crime, dark comedy, and everything in-between. Tales of the grotesque, the limits of the psychological, and bumps in the night whatever the cause! Does it take place in space? That's cool too.

This will be our fsixth year! Continuing the traditions of the first 5 years, you can expect trophies, free beer for attending filmmakers, and no repertory films. We've always put the emphasis on film first, with as many screenings as possible. Last year we played 0ver 40 shorts and features. It’s more badassness than should be allowed in one weekend!

Screening takes place at the KigginsTheatre, a legit theater that serves beer, wine and pizza. It's deep in the vibrant heart of downtown Vancouver WA, just across the river from Portland.

We promise a rollicking good time and a slate packed with great films. We can't do that without the filmmakers, so submit your films now! International films accepted. Diversity and originality are not only welcome, but also encouraged. Absolutely no ratings restrictions, ever.

Here's what some previous filmmakers had to say!

“Now that we've fully recuperated, we wanted to thank PDXtreme Fest for having us. You guys really did something incredible and held a great festival with awesome movies and fantastic people. We are so honored by your Best Feature Award. Thank you. Thank you. THANK YOU! You guys rock!” – Ben Moody, Director- “Last Girl Standing”

“I watched a ton of awesome films, some of which I'll never be able to forget, and met some brilliant filmmakers who are now friends I hope will one day become colleagues. This festival, run by the amazing Jeremy Jantz and Dulcie Jantz, was everything I'd hoped it would be. Thanks to everyone involved for their hard work and camaraderie. PRAISE THE LORD!” - Ryan LaPlante, Director- “Holy Hell”

“Thanks again for putting together so many great movies and so many cool filmmakers! I'm still absorbing all the awesome movies you packed into 3 days. The range of subjects and styles, the quality, all of it was fantastic. PDXtreme was the most enjoyable and inspiring festival I've been to in forever. Can't wait to see what 2016 brings!” - Jerry Ochoa, Director- “This Neighborhood”

“My sister Ashley Mary Nunes and I had an amazing time at PDXtreme - Portland Underground Film Fest this weekend! We were sad to say good-bye to all the talented new friends we made. Thank you… for a truly memorable weekend of blood, horror, and good times!!!!” – Todd Nunes, Director – “All Through The House”

Winners in various categories receive a custom designed trophy! Our first year, we awarded trophies for Best Feature, best Comedic Short, Best Dramatic Short, and Best Practical FX. Now we've added Best Actor, Best Actress Feature, and Best Actor, Best Actress Short.
Each category includes nominations. Attending the fest does not increase a filmmaker's chance of winning. Trophies will be mailed at our expense. But it is cooler to put it directly in your hand.
