About the festival

SUBMISSIONS will open on February 1, 2021, for the 2021 Philadelphia Environmental Film Festival.

The Philadelphia Environmental Film Festival uses the power of film to entertain, inform and inspire action on challenges facing our planet, along with films celebrating the natural beauty of the earth. The festival showcases exceptional new films from around the world. We seek illuminating and compelling documentaries, features and shorts spotlighting epic expeditions, critical conservation issues, fascinating wildlife behavior, inspiring heroes, and more!

Held over 5 days on a Virtual Platform in 2020, the 4th annual PhilaEnviroFilmFest, along with our partners at the Academy of Natural Sciences, proudly presented 50 amazing new films along with a juried awards competition, engaging discussions with filmmakers and topical experts, many from the Academy, a youth short film competition, a Kid's Planet program, and other special events along with online resources and year-round program offerings. We hope to go back to a live Film Festival in September 2021 at the Academy of Natural Sciences.

The PhilaEnviroFilmFest is a member of the international Green Film Network, an association of the world's 40 major environmental film festivals, giving further opportunities for outreach and connection with a global audience. We are also a member of Film Festival Alliance and official partners with many cultural organizations.
