About the festival

Planet 9 Film Festival is an independent festival that features unique & interesting films & art made by people from all over the world.

Music videos, shorts, & features are all welcomed. Narrative as well as non narrative.

Planet 9 Film Fest screenings in Los Angeles as well as the Detroit area come Fall 2020.
We are working on a safe social distancing actual LIVE event type of screening!
If it doesn't pan out, we will be doing a live stream for selected shorts as well as inviting select winners to do interviews for our online & public access show as well as our podcast!

Each Event will be hosted by Special guest: Count Cat!
There will be various awards & prizes for select film winners, live music & more!

Some films will be accepted and screened at the actual Festival while other runner ups will be selected for online review & digital hype!

The festival was created by indie filmmakers as a means to build community & connection among lesser known indie/DIY filmmakers.
It is for the Under-the Underground!

Special one of a kind Planet 9 Trophies, gift bags & gift certificates will be awarded as well as exclusive discounts with Vertigo Sound & Light Entertainment, Bad Splice, Moon 13 mini green screen room & to be a featured filmmaker on Castle Cat internet show!

Terms and rules

The festivals focuses on themes of sci-fi, horror, psychedelic & experimental.

Cosmic conscious, creative, macabre, passion, DIY, punk rock, truly independent work, weird, interesting, unique films are what we are looking for! Although we are very open minded and love films of all sorts!

3. If film is online to the public
4. format(digital, film, animation)

Performance videos(performance art or live music/theatrics) for performers can submit video without the above.

Don't have a film ready but you want to create something?? This year, using the guidelines of 1. Feature any DEATH CAT song in your short. https://deathcat.bandcamp.com/ (we can e-mail you the desired song/track) 2. Mention Either Space Possums, A weird Doctor known as Dr.Quack or feature the DEATH CAT or Planet 9 logo in your piece. 3. Make something as absurd as possible! Winners will be screened, and or have their short featured on our DEATH CAT Internet TV!(youtube channel)
