It is a dynamic time for Dance for Film, and Portland Dance Film Fest (PDFF) is at the forefront of the Dance for Film scene in Portland. Showcasing curated submissions from around the world during a multi-night festival, PDFF provides a screen and an audience for artists who are making relevant and inspired Dance for Film. Portland, OR is known for its culture that advocates for and uplifts the arts and thus is an exciting city to present the ongoing innovations of Dance for Film.

Portland Dance Film Fest invites dance filmmakers from around the world to submit their minis, shorts, long, & documentary dance films for PDFF’s fourth annual dance film festival. We will be looking for originality, innovative cinematography, and unique choreography. We are open to animation, documentary, & most forms of dance on camera. If you have questions about your submission please contact us.

We will create awards for the films that we feel are most outstanding!

The highest rated STAY HOME SCREENDANCE will receive a prize of $200!

RULES AND GUIDELINES
» ***STAY HOME SCREENDANCE // 1-5 Minutes
» MINI // 0 – 5 minutes
» SHORT // 5:01 – 15 minutes
» LONG // 15:01 + minutes
» DOCUMENTARY // Any Length
» OREGON ARTIST // Any Length - Must be an Oregon Resident

» STAY HOME SCREENDANCE must be filmed during the COVID-19 physical distancing/shelter in place/quarantine/stay home time period. It should be between a 1 - 5 minute screendance that takes place within your property as you practice physical distancing. The content and themes of your screendance mini can be anything you’d like and don’t have to include any reference to the current situation. Due to the unknown nature of life right now, how films submitted in this category are integrated into the programming of PDFF is also unknown. Please include either in the description or in a cover letter how you made this during social distancing.

The highest rated STAY HOME SCREENDANCE will receive a prize of $200! Stay healthy and creative :) Happy filmmaking.

ALL Films:
» Dance must be made for film, PDFF will not accept live stage performances.
» We ask that your film is not shown in the greater Portland, OR area 2 months prior to the festival showing.
» Please include English transcript if no English language is included.
» All films submitted must be completed at time of submission.
» By submitting a film for consideration to Portland Dance Film Fest, the filmmaker/production company grants PDFF the right to screen the film throughout the duration of the festival in any capacity. PDFF will never upload a completed film to the Internet without the filmmakers consent.
» The applicant declares that they have obtained all necessary rights and permissions to present the film in Portland Dance Film Fest. The filmmaker must own or have cleared copyright of all aspects of the submitted film. This includes all music and images used. PDFF accepts no responsibility, financial or otherwise, in regards to clearing copyrighted material.
» Submission of an entry gives Portland Dance Film Fest and its presenters permission to have excerpts of accepted work, including press material and film trailers, shown in all promotional activities related to the festival.
