Bring to life your interpretation of NASA’s work to send humans to the vicinity of the Moon and onwards to Mars through breathtaking cinematography, amazing animations and state-of-the-art special effects. What will astronauts see, feel and experience?

College students and early career professionals have up to 5 minutes to tell an inspiring story about a trek to the Red Planet, so captivating, that creativity is a must! The winning short film will be selected by a team of film and graphic design industry judges including Gareth Edwards, director of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

The top film will win $10,000 (US) and two second place films will win $5,000 each. Winning entries will be screened at multiple locations, including NASA visitor centers, NASA museum consortium members, micro cinemas, and other interested venues beginning in late Fall 2018 and continuing through 2019.

DO NOT SUBMIT VIA FilmFreeway. Entries will be accepted ONLY through the www.ProjectMarsCompetition.org website submission system, which opens spring 2018.

This is an international competition for college and early career professionals. 2 to 5 minute videos can be submitted as private Vimeo or YouTube links. Visit the website for more details about the film specifications, how to enter, and the mailing list that will announce the entry system opening.
