About the festival

The Rye International Film Festival is brand new. Our mission is to celebrate new short film making from around the world, in all its forms. We are dedicated to providing a platform for established and emerging film makers to share their work. RIFF takes place for three days, in the beautiful town of Rye in East Sussex, at the state of the art new Kino Digital Cinema.

The winning film from each category will win a place in the opening night premier screening and awards ceremony.

GENERAL RULES

The Rye International Film Festival accepts submissions from any country.

ENTRY FOR SUSSEX AND KENT FILMMAKERS IS FREE

**YOU MUST SUBMIT AN ENTRY FORM FROM OUR WEBSITE - INCLUDING YOUR POSTCODE. ANY FALSE SUBMISSIONS WILL BE DELETED **

Festival Categories

The Rye International Film Festival is open to international films in one of the following categories:

Short Film
Animated Short
Documentary Short
Music Video
Short Short
Short Screenplay
Artist Short
Student Short
Sussex and Kent Short Film
Artist Short

All categories are a competition.

Although due care will be exercised, the Rye International Film Festival cannot assume any liability for damage to entries.

Submitters agree to their films being shown publicly during the Festival as well as their films being used for festival promotional events, including the Rye International Film Festival website and online Channel.

Terms and Conditions

Eligibility: Employees, officers & directors of the Rye International Film Festival and their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, partners, dealers, advertising and promotion agencies, manufacturers or distributors of contest materials and their immediate families (parents, children, siblings, spouse) are not eligible to enter. All UK, EU and local laws and regulations apply.

1. Entries must be motion pictures or screenplays which are original, undistributed works produced, written and/or directed by the submitting filmmaker.

2. The submitting filmmaker must be directly responsible for the creative control and direction of the project. Collaborative efforts may be recognized and acknowledged, but only the submitting filmmaker will be awarded any applicable prize.

3. It is the filmmaker's responsibility to obtain rights, clearances and permissions. The Rye International Film Festival assumes no responsibility for violation of copyright law.

4. Obscene, pornographic or illegal material is not allowed under any circumstance. The enforcement of this rule will be at the discretion of the Film Festival directors.

5. Submission of an entry automatically transfers showing rights for the entry to Rye International Film Festival. Entries will not be used in any way for commercial purposes. By submitting an entry to the Rye International Film Festival, each entrant expressly grants permission to use their name, likeness, home town, etc. The waiver for use of material made at the time of submission is limited to the Festival year that the entry is submitted to.

The Rye International Film Festival in no way guarantees the return of any entry and no guarantee is therefore expressed.

6. Each entry must be accompanied by the following:
a) entry fee
b) submission material

7. Entrants shall indemnify, defend and hold the Festival, its agents and its representatives harmless from and against any and all claims, damages, costs, liabilities and expenses which may be incurred by reason of any breach of these representations, or arising out of any matter contained in the media or otherwise by the Festival's use of the media.

8. Entries may be disqualified for the following reasons:
a) inappropriate material
b) incomplete application materials and documentation
c) submissions on unacceptable media
d) entries which are submitted at incorrect entry levels or categories
e) no application fee enclosed with the entry

9.In the case of disqualification, an attempt will be made by the festival staff to contact the entrant. This will allow an opportunity for the disqualification to be remedied.

10. Entries must not have distribution.

11. No premiere status rules.

12. In case of questions, disputes or misunderstandings the decisions of the Directors of the Festival are final.
