About the festival

Film Gainesville wants to bring the best Sci Fi short films from around the world to North Central Florida! If your film is 20 minutes or less and in the genre we want to see your cinematic masterpiece. Whether its traditional, vintage, historical, environmental, VFX heavy, Space Opera, or spooky, if it's a science fiction film, we want to see it.

Films will be screened over two days at Santa Fe College in the newly renovated 236 seat, state of the art Fine Arts Theater. If social distancing restrictions are still in place we will show the films "Drive In" style on a large outdoor screen as well as livestream the event.

Additionally, we will host a local art show at the venue and online during the event.

Underrepresented and female filmmakers. We want you!

Special awards for best Florida and Gainesville Filmmaker.

For the past 10 years Film Gainesville has run a very successful 48 hour film competition. We have screened over 150 films and hosted hundreds of local competitors. Now we want to bring the best Sci-Fi shorts to our amazing city.
