About the festival

Calling all teenage filmmakers! Come see your movie, short film or video on the big screen! We are partnering with the beautiful, new, Movie Tavern Exton to host the 2021 SE Pennsylvania Teen Filmmakers Showcase! Event attendees will walk a red carpet and join fellow teens in a 150 seat arena to watch some great cinema! Take part in a Q & A with industry professionals, film school faculty and more! If you are thinking of applying to film school – come rub elbows with the decision makers! Submissions from high school film clubs will also be considered. The Showcase is a three night event, beginning with the in-person Showcase followed by two night's of live streaming the local and international film selections!

Monday, August 9, 2021 (Opening Night):
5:00pm - Filmmakers Social Mixer, on air interviews with WCHE1520 Radio and a Question & Answer Session with University Film School faculty and industry professionals
6pm to 7:30pm - Screening of selected films
7:30pm to 7:45pm - Voting for Fan Favorite Award via Social Media App
8:00pm - Awards Announcements and conclusion of Showcase

*The Live Streaming national/local edition will be an opportunity for friends, families and movie industry professionals to see YOUR film no matter where they are! All selected filmmakers will get one free virtual ticket, with additional general public tickets available for purchase.

Terms and rules

Film Submission Notes:

*Submitted films must comply with all applicable international, CDC and state level COVID-19 regulations and recommendations at the time of the film production.

Film lengths of one – ten minutes* exceptional films of longer duration considered.

Entries must have been made in 2019 or more recent; Filmmaker can be older than 19, but work must have been done while a teenager.

While submissions will not receive an official screening rating, we are looking for films that would traditionally receive MPAA ratings of G through PG-13. Please contact Jason with questions about your film's content if you are unsure if you meet this requirement.

We will be showing the films digitally, so please have a digital file ready for download if your film is selected.

Screenplay Submission Notes:
Criteria adapted from FilmPipeline

Any genre accepted, including non-narrative or experimental shorts.
The submission must be intended as a short film ranging from roughly 2 to 15 pages in length.
Script must be unproduced at the time of entry. Produced films are allowed only in the Short Film Competition.
Only completed scripts are allowed.

Rules
Cover page should include the title only.
Co-writers allowed.
PDF Format.
No limit on number of entries.
All rights to the material remain with the entrant.

The Showcase recognizes that many young filmmakers out there rely on school equipment that may not be available right now. But that doesn't mean you stop making films! Smart phone films should adhere to all Showcase rules regarding length etc. and only be shot on smart phone or tablets. All other films created with professional equipment will fall into another category.
