About the festival

Open Screening:
Is held the 2nd Sunday of every month at 7:00 PM in the theater at Seattle Film Institute, hosted by Greg Gould. Open Screening is an "Open Mike Night" for video and digital media arts and almost more importantly an open forum for filmmakers videographers and digital media artists-ranging from amateur to professional. Discussion follows each screening. At the end of each program night the audience will pick the best film presented that night It will move on and be held until the best of program November 2019.
This is a great way to get your work in front of a live audience in a popular metro city that loves film and media arts! DO IT!

In November of 2019 we will have a The Best... of Open Screening event at the Institute with food and beverage along with some awards and a cash prize to be determined at a latter date..Its all donations and submission based.
Your piece will be featured on our Facebook, YouTube and Vimeo channels and will be shown a few times thru out the year. We will be opening up a twitter feed for comments on your piece the night of showing so please send along a hash tag or hand bag. So you can be part of the discussion.

Terms and rules

How it works: Submit your work here at FilmFreeway, Make sure it's cued, maximum 12 minutes in length or less, There is a ***4*** piece Limit on space available for FilmFreeway submissions every month. So send them Quick!!
First come First Served!

Submission Fee: $15.00

Any short film or digital media that is able to be screened no more than 12 minuets in length is eligible for consideration.

LEGAL STUFF: By Submitting your piece you understand that submission of their work authorizes Open Screening to use the work for exhibition, education and/or publicity purposes related to the festival; that the Open Screening will handle the prints and drives with a maximum of care but cannot be held liable for any damage or loss during shipping, preview, or screening; and that Open Screening is also not responsible for any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, or royalty infringement related to the work. Submitted works may receive future correspondence from Open Screening. Your piece will be featured on our Facebook, YouTube and Vimeo channels and will be shown a few times thru out the year. This open forum screening program has run for almost 30 years here in the shadow of the space needle. Come join us for an open screening and discussion of your Media Art of almost any kind. Cost to attend: Is a requested $5.00 donation.
