We are so sorry, but, owing to Covid-19, post July 1st we confirmed our decision to postpone the 2020 Shropshire Rainbow Film Festival; due to take place from October 2nd– 4th 2020, until dates in February/March 2021. We will revise the 'Event Date' on this site, as soon as we are able to confirm the actual dates those will be.
This was not an easy decision, but organising a Festival weekend for October, amid such great uncertainty as to when things will be back to normal, proved to be impossible.
We have decided though, that, in any event, one way forward is to work toward scheduling an event/Festival as part of the 2021 Shropshire LGBTQ+ History Festival celebrations in February/March. Check out our website for details.
We know how much our Festival means to our communities and allies – including ourselves, the organisers.
These are difficult times for so many of us. We hope that you and the ones you love are okay. Let us find strength in our communities – local, national and worldwide.
Founded in 2006 Shropshire Rainbow Film Festival places LGBTQ+ lives at the heart of Shropshire's entertainment programme.
Our aim is to entertain, educate, challenge and change;
Entertain - through an annual programme of film and one off events - we want our audiences to experience the pride of LGBTQ+ folk.
Educate - with stories from all over the globe, we portray a range of experiences, offering insights into other worlds
Challenge - questioning complacency and raising awareness of issues faced by LGBTQ+ folk - not all of our films are comfortable watching.
Change - how others perceive and behave towards lesbians, gay men, bisexual people and those with different sexualities and gender identities and how we feel about ourselves.
We pride ourselves on running friendly events, offering hosting for filmmakers who have been chosen to participate in our festivals.
As well as screening films we also like to foster discussion and debate around a range of LGBTQ+ subjects and interests.
We also encourage filmmakers who attend to participate in Q&A sessions about their work.
We are revisiting our plans; in past years there has been an Audience Award for each of the following categories:
BEST UK SHORT
BEST INTERNATIONAL SHORT
