The 18th annual Sikhlens: Sikh Arts and Film Festival will be held this year from November 20th-November 22nd, 2020 at the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts on the Chapman University campus in Orange, California (not far from Hollywood).
The weekend begins with an Opening Gala celebration featuring food, music and art exhibits. Sikhlens, the World’s Premier Sikh Film Festival, screens 30-40 films over the weekend. It provides an outlet for sharing Sikh heritage and culture with the rest of the world by creating awareness of work that is “Sikh-centric,” showcasing Sikh talent, and instilling pride in the Sikh community.
Sikhlens seeks work from artists in a variety of fields, including, but not limited to, films, art, music, and books. It creates appropriate avenues for this work to be shared with the rest of the world with the aim of getting more exposure for the presenters, and at the same time creating awareness about Sikhs.
In addition to seeking Sikh-centric content, Sikhlens is also looking for Sikh filmmakers that have produced films about mainstream topics, or social issues.
Sikhlens has been embedded in the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts for the last eight years. Through the Project “S” and Destination “S” scholarship programs students have travelled throughout the world to produce Sikh-centric films. Recent trips to the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, France, Malawi, Kenyon, Malaysia, Thailand, Nepal, Australia, and France have produced some former festival submissions.

The deadline for submissions is September 1st, 2020.
