SILBERSALZ is a young, innovative film and science festival, which will take place for the third time from 14.10.-18.10.2020 in Halle (Saale). Combining film screenings, installations, lectures, workshops and panel discussions, SILBERSALZ makes science accessible to the general public in a clear and vivid fashion.
The SILBERSALZ Public Screening Program showcases an international selection of films dealing with a range of scientific disciplines, aiming to provide the audience with a glimpse of the future, latest advancements and discoveries, also tackling contemporary social issues, the impact of science on society, and its quest to search for global solutions.
All screenings are followed by talks with leading experts providing in-depth understanding of the subject and its scientific relevance. Hence, they bring the public in direct conversation with thinkers, scientists and researchers together, providing a neutral ground to engage with future ideas, opening new perspectives and interact with science in a lively manner.
This year's festival theme "Homeland Earth" focuses on our home, Planet Earth - its diversity, (eco)systems and special characteristics. A selection of films, artworks, live performances and workshops will deal with "Homeland Earth" from the present to the future, and how we can shape our common future and give an insight into future solutions.
