About the festival

The first Siouxland Inspirational Film Festival was held March 6-7, at the 600-seat Heelan High School Auditorium – 1231 Grandview Boulevard, Sioux City, Iowa 51103.

The goal of the Siouxland Inspirational Film Festival is to showcase U.S. short films that are inspiring, heartwarming, thought-provoking, family-friendly and entertaining.

Our film festival seeks to be an alternative to the Hollywood sex, violence and immorality permeating much of the movie industry. We are looking for positive films with highly-moral characters, who are involved in plots exhibiting traditional Christian Values. English-spoken, clean-language short films are desired.

Here is the list of 11 selected videos and the order of presentation:

Toy Truck 3 minutes

A February Canoe Float 5 minutes

Busker 6 minutes

The Death of a Tooth Fairy 16 minutes

Caught in Quicksand 3 minutes

Soaring Beyond Silence 8 minutes

Big Bully 9 minutes

Drone Zone 4 minutes

The Ghost in Her 13 minutes

Flight 232 Reunion 15 minutes

My Day 7 minutes

After intermission, the festival presented the feature-length Christian blockbuster film:  I Can Only Imagine, 110 minutes, DVD

A People’s Choice Awards table was set up. Top vote-getters will receive a certificate; no cash prizes during our first-year low-budget operation. Winners still get bragging rights! Please notice the low entry fee.

The winning inspirational filmfest films were:

1. The Ghost in Her by the Wayne State college folks

2.  February Canoe Float by the Mason City film team

3. A tie for third: My Day by the Japanese missionary and

25th Anniversary Reunion of Flight 232 by Jerry Mennenga

Films should be between 2 – 19 minutes in length, including credits.

Filmmakers will receive invitations to attend the festival and free admission for two. Following the screenings, filmmakers in attendance will be interviewed by The Host.

Surplus revenues from this nonprofit Festival will be given to local charities.

The decision by the screening committee and the People's Choice votes will be final.
