About the festival

The S.O.F.A Film Festival, Cyprus showcases both live and online local and international films relating to animals, animal welfare, conservation and the environment.

This unique festival runs a 2 day festival plus chooses films submitted for their online festival via their Patreon platform. The live screenings are used for fundraisers for local rescue, animal welfare and environment projects and the recipient organisation is chosen depending on the subject of the film. (PLEASE NOTE: Due to COVID-19 restrictions our 2020 (and possibly 2021) festival will be ONLINE ONLY).

Some films will also be invited to screen on their own separate to the festival dates if we run over our time slots but wish to highlight their work. We also run themed mini-festivals throughout the year, mainly online, so films may also be invited to screen then.

After the festival screenings film viewers will be able to vote for their favourite film/s via JotForm. The winner will receive an official certificate and be mentioned in the following year's official program with a photograph, bio and film poster as well as a permanent link to their social media on the award and festival website. The Certificate Categories for 2021 are: Best Feature, Best Short and Best Overall.
