About the festival

***COVID-19 UPDATE***

The South Texas International Film Festival would like to inform our submitters, participants, and attendees that despite the recent outbreak of COVID-19 that has
struck the U.S. and the World, our event is planned as scheduled from September 9-12.
However, if the situation calls for it, we have prepared a contingency plan to postpone
but not cancel the Festival.

In the same manner, we will be delaying our notification date from May 15th to Monday,
June 1st of this year. We want to acknowledge the hard work filmmakers have put into
making the films. Our team is working around the clock to guarantee that all films are
taken into due consideration as they deserve.

We are constantly looking at options to provide you with a meaningful and uplifting
experience in this time of unpredictability and pandemic. We highly encourage you to
practice social distancing and to follow instructions from the WHO and your local health
administration. Watch as many movies as you can… at home, of course. Stay safe.

***

2020 South Texas International Film Festival
Submission Guidelines

The City of Edinburg, in an effort to promote the visual arts and the growing Film industry in the Rio Grande Valley, has developed an annual selective film festival, the South Texas International Film Festival.

The STXIFF is an annual event that showcases the work of visionary filmmakers from all over the world. Based in Edinburg, Texas, our Festival features State, National, and International films that bring together local filmmakers and connects the South Texas film industry with the world.

This year, the Festival will run from September 9th through September 12th of 2020 for its sixth edition. The submission guidelines for the 2020 South Texas International Film Festival (henceforth also referred to as “Festival” and “STXIFF”) are as follows:

1. Call for entry for the 2019 STXIFF will open on October 4th, 2019. Final submissions close at 11:59 PM on April 27th, 2020. Deadlines will have four different final dates:
