About the festival

Based in Sarnia, Ontario, the South Western International Film Festival is a four-day arts & culture Festival celebrating its 6th anniversary in 2020. SWIFF brings culturally diverse, international stories, live music, virtual reality exhibits and filmmaking workshops to the South Western Ontario region of Canada. Our mission is to spotlight new voices, global perspectives and unique stories that will engage a region that has a growing thirst for Art and Culture. Guests of the festival have included Academy Award-nominees, Bing Liu (MINDING THE GAP) and screenwriter Emma Donoghue (ROOM), Patricia Rozema (INTO THE FOREST), Nathan Morlando (MEAN DREAMS), Richie Mehta (INDIA IN A DAY), Johnny Ma (OLD STONE), Alethea Arnaquq-Baril (ANGRY INUK), Lulu Wang (THE FAREWELL) Shilpa Ray, The Sadies and many more.
