About the festival

A Festival of Filmmakers for Filmmakers & Film lovers -
Swindon IFF - Film@Swinge (Swindon Fringe) will run 5 days, back to back this coming year again at our home venue Swindon MECA,

We'll be based on the Balcony of the legendary MECA in the Heart of the town Centre Culture & Entertainment district.
We are pleased to be partnering with MECA again an Old Regent and Gaumont Cinema and Rudi's Bar and Kitchen next door an Art Deco Bar and meeting place.

The Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts (PQA) the largest provider of Film and Television training for young people in the UK has generously Sponsored our Best Youth Film (under 18), which is open to all young filmmakers and youth groups / Schools internationally.

For Swindon and District Film makers and our World twinned towns and cities (Salzgitter in Germany, Ocotal in Nicaragua, Torun in Poland and Disney World Florida!) entry is free however -
ALL are welcome.
We have several categories and awards.
For Voucher Discount code (Fee waiver) contact Organisers with image of I.D. / Driving licence with address clearly visible.

Student discount and a Youth film section (under 18) supported by the Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts..

Initially proudly part of Swindon Fringe (a live performance event run over a week at many venues, now in its 8th year), we are now a sister event running separately but linked.

Discounts are available for previous entrants and we try to keep our fees low. So please do not ask for a fee waiver.

Terms and rules

Films in a language other than English must be subtitled in English.

You must own the copyright or have permission from the author to submit the film.

We accept films produced in the last 2 years.

We accept films already released on internet, we understand filmmakers NEED to promote their work - However if selected please do not promote this fact or any links along side your Selection / Nomination until after the screening event.

Submission fees WON'T be refunded if you decide to withdraw your film from the festival whether your film is selected or not.

The Festival reserves the right to change, add or suppress awards according to the circumstances. The number of projects in our Official Selection and Special Mentions could also change in order to the amount of submissions received each year.

The Festival reserves the right to change the venue where the event takes place or the festival dates for reasons beyond our control.

The official exhibition formats for the festival are .mov/.mp4 file or Blu-ray.
Sound should Peak at maximum -6 dbs
Once a film gains Official Selection a copy must be sent to us in order to be screened. Ideally digital down-load Any Blu-Ray copy will not be returned.

A rounded story in under 3 minutes is a tough call but we love them. Be it Documentary or Theatrical any and all genres welcome. Micro Shorts and Music Videos have their own awards, But also get entered into Shorts and all Craft awards.

Film made by and cast from under 18 year olds (There may be adult cast members and Producers but the Film should be made by under 18s if with supervision and some help from adults). Free to Pauline Quirke Academy students. All Film clubs Schools and Colleges and individuals welcome. Films are also entered in to Craft and Genre Awards.

Whether you're visuals are Narrative to the Lyrics or independent, we love a good Music video that works with the track wether or not it is perceived as matching it, so we judge that and the visuals but not the music, we are about the Filmmakers and their choices and skill. Shorts and Music Videos have their own awards, But also get entered into all Craft and there Genre awards.
