About the festival

The Blue Parrot International Film Festival was created to celebrate the very best of independent filmmaking, be it home-grown in Britain and from the furthest corners of the globe and to raise awareness and donations for key charities close to our founders hearts.

The Blue Parrot International Film Festival 2020 awards ceremony will take place at the luxurious Soho Hotel in the heart of London’s West End on June 15th 2020. Upon arriving, you’ll walk the red carpet and take your seat in the plush private screening room with a complimentary drink and popcorn before enjoying our ceremony as we celebrate the best of the films submitted to us over the last year. After, join your fellow nominees, jury and special guests at a private reception in the exclusive Indigo Room with drinks and canapés.

Our name derives from The Blue Parrot, the bar Humphrey Bogart’s character visits in the classic film ‘Casablanca’ when he isn’t requesting classics from Sam at his own Rick's Café Américain. The Blue Parrot International Festival is organised by The Blue Parrot Company, a non-profit charitable company limited by guarantee, with the core objective of raising funds and awareness for five carefully selected charities.

The Blue Parrot Company donates all profits from submissions to the Blue Parrot International Film Festival equally between the charities we support, in addition to funds raised throughout the year at various other charitable events we organise and participate in.

So far our jury includes The Smiths guitarist and film composer Craig Gannon and film and television actor Nicholas Ball. We’re constantly adding to our list of jurors so keep checking back on this page or our website for regular updates.
