About the festival

The Film on Film Festival has been postponed and new festival dates will be posted soon!

The Hollywood Theatre and Lower Boom are proud to present the Film on Film Festival - the only film festival in the world to exclusively showcase projects that have been SHOT on film AND will be PROJECTED on film! The Film on Film Festival will show new work alongside classics - including narrative features, documentaries, shorts, and more.

For years, the Hollywood Theatre has been leading the charge on the return to film, regularly showcasing 16mm, 35mm, and 70mm projection. As the only theater in Oregon capable of showing film in the deluxe 70mm format, the Hollywood has drawn sold-out audiences to 70mm screenings of 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY, SPARTACUS, WEST SIDE STORY, and many more - in the format these classic films were meant to be seen. There’s a reason Quentin Tarantino came to the Hollywood Theatre to present his last film, THE HATEFUL EIGHT: The Hollywood screened the epic Western in the format that Tarantino shot it in, for the film’s third highest-grossing engagement worldwide. And Lower Boom’s commitment to creating new models and markets for storytellers worldwide and innovative approaches to marketing and distribution make them an ideal partner to bring this festival to the world.

Who else is shooting on film these days? Three Best Picture 2017 Oscar nominees: LA LA LAND, FENCES, and HIDDEN FIGURES. Not to mention other recent titles like JURASSIC WORLD, INTERSTELLAR, JACKIE, CAROL, BRIDGE OF SPIES… and many, many more.

Film isn’t making a comeback… It never really went away.
