About the festival

The Future of Film Showcase was one the first film festivals to transition to a virtual experience in 2020, being presented on CBC Gem. For the 2021 festival, our format will be a hybrid of virtual and in-person screenings. All government protocols to be strictly observed.

Filmmakers may be offered a broadcast deal should their film be invited to screen at the Future of Film Showcase.

ABOUT THE FUTURE OF FILM SHOWCASE (FOFS)

The Future of Film Showcase is a Canadian not for profit media arts organization operating as an annual film festival, presenting short films from Canadian Filmmakers aged 40 and younger. FOFS has a track record of screening shorts from dignified Canadian filmmakers such as Deragh Campbell (MS Slavic 7, Anne at 13,000 ft), Alicia K. Harris (PICK, 2020 Canadian Screen Award Winner) and Sophy Romvari (Norman Norman, Still Processing), landing their shorts on larger exhibition platforms such as CBC Gem.

The official selections are exhibited on the big screen for a one-night event at the Scotiabank Theatre in Toronto.

"The festival (FOFS) has grown in scale thanks to its expanding audience and partnerships, attracting a similar demographic of its filmmakers – Canadians 18 to 40, eager to support independent Canadian filmmaking" - Playback Magazine

***

We have signed The 2020 Producer's Pledge.

As always, we have no premiere or production timeline requirements. All films that have screened online as a part of a film festival are also eligible for consideration.
