BEFORE STARTING YOUR TIFF RISING STARS APPLICATION, REVIEW THE CHECKLIST BELOW:
1. You meet the eligibility requirements for TIFF Rising Stars and agree to provide all the required submission materials.
2. You have created a new project under the “My Projects” section of your profile for this specific programme application. The project is titled “FIRST AND LAST NAME – TIFF RISING STARS – 2020” and is a Film / Video project type.
● NOTE: After saving your new project, return to the TIFF Rising Stars FilmFreeway event page to fill out the application.
3. You have uploaded the materials listed below to the “My Projects” section. (NOTE: Go to https://filmfreeway.com/projects and click “View” on your project to upload your video files.)
● Two clips from two separate projects.
○ NOTE: One of the film clips should be from the film that has been submitted to the 2020 Toronto International Film Festival (if applicable); the other clip can be from a previous feature/short film or TV show, in which the applicant had a principal role.
● A video self-interview, no more than three minutes in duration. The video should answer the following questions: i. What do you hope to get out of TIFF Rising Stars? ii. What kind of roles would you like to play? Dramatic? Comedic? Please explain. iii. Name three directors or showrunners that you would like to work with. Why?
○ NOTE: Please ensure that your self-interview is edited together into one file with your clip submissions (read below).
CLIP- AND VIDEO-SUBMISSION PROTOCOL: Please read the following rules before you submit the file of your clips.
● The film clips and self-interview must be less than three minutes each.
● The film clips and self-interview must be edited together into one file. Upload this file in the “Add an Online Screener” section of your project.
● Please ensure that all of the clips are in high resolution. The jury will review the clips on a large screen.
● If the language spoken in a clip is not English, please ensure that the clip includes English subtitles.
● Demo reels, trailers, and music videos will not be accepted.
● Submissions of full-length films with time codes will not be considered by the jury.
