HOW TO SUBMIT:
1. Select the Primary category that best suits your content.
2. Opt into any additional Craft Award Categories for which you would like your content to be considered. Up to three Craft categories are included with the cost of your Primary category. Each additional Craft category opted into will cost an additional $10 regardless of the submission window and there is no limit on the number of additional Craft Award Categories for which your content can be considered. (This option does not apply to Podcasts or Online Shorts).
3. Apply Craft category discount code in order to receive up to three Craft categories free. If you are an IWCC member, your exclusive discount code will apply to your total cart amount to include all your Craft category selections. If you wish to enter into more, you will be charged $10 for each additional Craft submission. The codes are as follows:
CRAFTONE2020 if you wish to enter into only one Craft category.
CRAFTTWO2020 if you wish to enter into only two Craft categories
CRAFTTHREE2020 if you wish to enter into at least three Craft categories.
4. There is no limit on the length of content submitted for consideration, but the jury will only consider the first ten (10) minutes of the submitted material and the maximum length that will be screened at the festival (including titles and end credits if applicable) is ten (10) minutes. The festival reserves the right to screen a portion of your submitted content instead of its full length.
5. Submit all required information and pay the required fee(s) in accordance with the relevant submission window.
ELIGIBLE CONTENT
All submitted content must satisfy the following requirements:
-The content must have been developed for online audiences. Non-exclusive development for online audiences is sufficient.
-The content must be submitted by a creator/producer aged 18 or older.
-At the time of submission, the series must be accessible online or subject to online distribution by July 1, 2020.
-If your content is unfinished or pending distribution, you may submit password-protected unreleased content or Works in Progress for consideration. You can add a password to protect your video uploads on your FilmFreeway project page. If selected, you must have a screening file available by July 1, 2020.
-The series must have been active online sometime after January 1, 2019. To be considered ‘active online’, the series must have been publicized during the appropriate time frame through either a live website, social media channels, published press releases, published content, or some other form of online activity associated with the series.
-The content must include English subtitles to accompany any important dialogue or visual references that are not spoken or written in English.
ELIGIBLE FORMATS:
1. WEB SERIES
-Serialized narrative content with 3 or more episodes of any genre, that fit the eligibility requirements.
2. PODCASTS
-Serialized podcasts of the following genres:
documentary, talk show, narrative/fiction, or long form.
-In FilmFreeway, your Project Type should be identified as “Music/Songwriting” which will accept audio files. Series of this format can only be submitted to the “Podcast” Primary category.
3. ONLINE SHORT
-Stand-alone narrative content of any genre, that is no longer than 10 minutes and fit the eligibility requirements. It must be readily available online.
-Series of this format can only be submitted to the “Online Short Film” Primary category.
INELIGIBLE CONTENT:
The following content formats are not eligible for screening during T.O. WebFest and will be rejected regardless of their adherence to any other requirements:
-Commercials
-Corporate videos promoting a product or service
-Pornography
-Product reviews
-Music videos
-Pilot episodes
RULES:
1. All submitters must submit their content to T.O. WebFest through FilmFreeway.
2. All submitters must submit to at least 1 Primary category. One can not submit to any Craft categories without also submitting to a Primary category.
3. A single submission may be considered for more than one Primary category provided that an additional entry with additional submission fee paid for each additional Primary category.
4. Multiple projects may be submitted for consideration provided that an additional submission fee is paid for each entry.
5. All submission fees are non-refundable.
6. Submitting does not guarantee your series as an Official Selection of T.O. WebFest 2020.
7. The Festival prefers that the submitter is the creator/producer of the project, however in order to submit content on the behalf of its creator/producer, the contact information of the primary creator/producer must be provided in order to document them as the festival’s main point of contact.
8. The submitter must have obtained legal copyright to publicly screen their submitted content and all intellectual property contained therein including, but not limited to, music, lyrics, written work, photos, video content, artwork, and media excerpts.
9. The creator/producer of each Official Selection will be offered 2 complimentary passes to T.O. WebFest 2020.
JURY INFORMATION:
-T.O. WebFest and the IWCC maintain that the collective members of the Festival Jury reflect an international selection of esteemed industry professionals of diverse cultural backgrounds.
-T.O. WebFest and the IWCC reserve the right to appoint all members of the Festival Jury.
-The Festival Jury determines all Primary Award & Craft Category Official Selections.
T.O. WebFest and the IWCC selects nominees and winners in each Achievement Award Category, with the exception of those categories based on Festival Jury scorings. (i.e. Best Series, Best Canadian Series, Best Toronto Series & Triple Threat Auteur).
-The Festival Jury selects the nominees and winners in each category, based on the submitter’s selection of Primary and Craft categories for consideration.
-If the Festival Jury or T.O. WebFest determines that an incorrect category may have been chosen for a submission, the submitter will be contacted regarding reclassification.
-All decisions regarding official selections and award nominees and winners are non-disputable.
-The identities of the Festival Jury members will be posted on the T.O. WebFest website after submissions close with the exception of any that choose to remain anonymous.
-Staff members of T.O. Webfest, or members of the Board of Directors of the IWCC are permitted to submit their web series, but they may not participate in any jury categories in which their submissions are entered.
-General Members of the IWCC organization may be considered as potential jurors, and may submit series projects, and be eligible for awards.
-Jurors cannot judge/vote for their own work that has been submitted to T.O. WebFest for consideration or judge/vote in any category that their work is in consideration for.
TERMS & CONDITIONS:
-T.O. WebFest reserves the right to amend these Guidelines at any time.
-Failure to meet the eligibility requirements will lead to disqualification.
-Disqualification will not entitle a submitter to a refund of the submission fee.
-By submitting your content, you represent that you have acquired all legal rights to publicly screen all content within your submission.
-T.O. WebFest reserves the right to determine screening conditions for all Official Selections.
-T.O. WebFest reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to add content advisory disclaimers to any content screened, if deemed necessary, for any reason.
-If a submitter’s content is selected, a Notice of Official Selection shall be emailed to the to the email address provided by the submitter in their FilmFreeway profile on the notification date.
-Announcements identifying the Official Selections will be posted online on the T.O. WebFest website and social media channels on the notification date.
-If you have any questions about your eligibility, contact us and we will assess your submission on a case-by-case basis.
-T.O. WebFest participants agree to not hold T.O. WebFest or the IWCC, its employees, directors and representatives responsible for any and all losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind in connection with the event or resulting from acceptance, possession or use of any prize.
