About the festival

The Ninth Annual VOB Film Festival is a one of a kind gathering of filmmakers, film lovers, great places to visit and creative ideas. The event takes place during for the week prior to Labor Day, from August 29th- September 6th, 2020. The VOB screens films from around the USA and the World. In 2020, we will be screening over 100 of the best independent films available and we hope yours is one of them!

Films are rated by our juried panel of 30 reviewers. The demographics of our reviewers vary widely and provides each film a chance to have a quality review of its merits. Getting into our festival is quite an achievement, requiring a combined score of 7 or higher from this panel to get by the first round of judging. It is the reason why so many outstanding independent films are shown here! If you have a film that tells a great story, provides a new point of view or brings something different, we would love for you to submit!

A great story and script is where it starts and if you have one to tell, the VOB Film Festival is the place to show it! Films are shown throughout scenic Putnam County, NY - a great place to visit and stay for the weekend. During the weekend of our festival we will have film panels, special guests and informational sessions. We may use your film at some of our independent film nights in our own theater.
