Welcome to the Women's Independent Film Festival! Offering a platform in Los Angeles for the many diverse perspectives of women within the world of independent film, Women's Independent Film Festival awards and screens the best independent films made by womxn filmmakers from around the world.

In order to qualify for entry, a womxn must fill at least one of the following key positions: Director, Producer, Writer, Lead female Protagonist, Editor, or Cinematographer.

We hope to give voice to the many talented and underrepresented womxn creating great work in the independent film world.

Films in each category will be awarded Best of Category, Best Directing, Best Cinematography, Best Screenplay, Best Actor, and Best Editing. All films accepted will screen at the festival and compete for the audience award. The winner of the best of Script category with have a chance to read an excerpt from the winning script at the festival.

Terms and rules

In order for a project to qualify, a woman must hold the role of AT LEAST ONE of the following: Producer, Director, Writer, Cinematographer, Editor, or Lead Actor.

We do not return submission materials.

By submitting your project, you agree to the following: Women's Independent Film Festival is hereby granted the right to utilize an excerpt from any film submitted and accepted for exhibition at the Festival for promotional purposes. The individual or corporation submitting the film hereby warrants that it is authorized to commit the film for screening, and understands and accepts these requirements and regulations. The Competition reserves the right to refuse entries. The undersigned shall indemnify and hold harmless Women's Independent Film Festival from and against any and all claims, liabilities, losses, damages, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees, and costs of the court) which may be incurred by reason of any claim involving copyright, trademark, credits, publicity, screening, and loss of or damage to the screening videos entered. Entries will not be returned.
