The annual World Whale Film Festival promotes visual storytellers who are passionate about our oceans and tell powerful stories about ocean and wildlife conservation at home and around the world. Our 5th Annual World Whale Film Festival seeks passionate filmmakers to present their stories in Maui, Hawaii 2021.

Last year’s event was a huge success, with 10 feature films and a sold-out crowd!

Terms and rules


Filmmakers of all backgrounds and skill levels are encouraged to participate. We are looking for powerful storytelling about our ocean environment.

Pacific Whale Foundation supports ethical visual storytelling that accurately represents cultures, ecosystems, and wildlife. Filmmakers guarantee that the welfare of all marine wildlife and the marine environment was respected and remained undisturbed during filming and abided by all federal, state and regional regulations on location.

Entries will be considered on originality, technical excellence, message, overall impact, and artistic merit. It is important to include basic information about your film with every submission. Send entries to events@pacificwhale.org or visit our website at www.mauiwhalefestival.org/filmfestival
