There is no thematic or genre criteria; it is wide open to any kind of short film and open to anyone to enter.
Most importantly, we want engaging narrative and a structured piece of work with good storytelling and strong production values. Installations and conceptual films are not suitable; films from the more standard genres of broadcast such as drama, documentary, comedy and entertainment are invited to submit.
Guidelines For Submitting Your Film
Here’s what we are looking for:
- Completed films up to 20 minutes in duration that focus on strong storytelling, high production values and engaging content.
- Screening copies accepted only via a link to uploaded film on Vimeo or Youtube.
- Your film does not have to be in full HD quality, just the best quality possible.
- Remember to provide a direct link to your film and the correct password. Please make sure the video is accessible to XpoNorth until Friday 29th June. If you change the password of the link please inform us as soon as possible.
All of the copyright holders for the film agree to allow the festival to use up to a maximum of 20% of the material in advertising and publicity without compromising or giving away the story or plot.
Before any decisions are made please note that all submitted films are viewed by members of the XpoNorth programming team.
Please note, films with excessive bad language, gratuitous or sexual imagery will not be considered.
Due to the volume of entries received, XpoNorth cannot offer individual critiques of declined films - sorry!
