Zoom Student Film Festival has proudly been hosted by the students of Earl Haig Secondary School in Toronto for 24 years. Since its launch in 1996, the festival has provided students with an opportunity to showcase their work on an international scale. Every year, a new generation of Earl Haig students take on the challenge of creating and curating this school tradition.

The Zoom Student Film Festival recognizes excellence in filmmaking with the prestigious Zoom Student Film Awards. The judging panel awards deserving films of the following genres:

Music Video
Documentary
Animation
Suspense

Prizes will be awarded to standout films at the discretion of the judging panel.

Terms and rules

Rules & Eligibility Requirements
The festival reserves the rights to disqualify any entry that fails to comply with the following requirements:

i. Films must not exceed 7 minutes in running-time.

ii. All participants in the entry (excluding cast members) must be enrolled as a secondary school student at the time of submission.

iii. The festival organizers may, in their sole discretion, disqualify entries deemed unsuitable due to coarse language, violence and/or inappropriate situations that do not adhere to a 14A or lower rating in Canada.

iv. Each film must be submitted with a FilmFreeway submission info form.

v. Filmmakers must retain all rights to ownership of their work. This includes rights to music and images, and rights to include all persons, places and organizations included or depicted in the entry. The festival will not accept responsibility for any copyright infringement, falsified information, contract or legal issues incurred by the filmmaker(s) or their submission. The responsibility of obtaining copyright and protecting any proprietary interests in the material belongs solely to the filmmaker(s).

Submission Guidelines

i. Entries will only be accepted when submitted through FilmFreeway.
ii. Submission materials will not be returned.
iii. All submissions must be received by March 22th, 2020.
a. Entrants will be notified by email of acceptance by March 29th, 2020.
b. Entrants may not withdraw their entry from the festival after the film has been submitted and accepted. The festival organizers reserve the rights to withdraw admitted entries from the festival lineup with no notification.
