A dramatic and dreamlike story in which the protagonist, Marlène (Melania Dalla Costa), sick with the syndrome of Bonnet, soothsayer and painter, flees France with her sister (Sofie) to reach a small village in northern Italy. There, she lives hand to mouth and in poverty in an old, abandoned mill. Marlène hides a heavy secret.
