A young neighbor, six-year-old Tommy, discovers Edison - a moody apartment superintendent's secret room, full of what the boy believes to be evidence of Edison's heroic past. The two strike up an unlikely friendship, with the boy looking at Edison as a powerful hero. But when Edison revealed to be a coward in real life, he must find a way to retrieve Tommy's trust, even if it means confronting his childhood trauma - his brother's death in a fire. Edison realizes that what is braver than being a hero is to forgive himself and move on from the past.
